Halloween is creeping in, and all the monsters are lurking around the corner, and HBO is letting out all the terror this Halloween.

It’s official; this Friday, 31st October, HBO will be releasing one of their gut-wrenching horror series, IT: Welcome to Derry. This is an adaptation from Stephen King’s 1986 novel IT. The series also serves as a prequel to the IT films (2017) and IT Chapter 2, released in 2019.

While most of you may have thought Pennywise’s reign of terror is over, think again. IT: Welcome to Derry follows a group of friends who try to find their missing friend, but in the process, they find that the mystery goes beyond just the voices and paranoia.

The first episode doesn’t really tell all, but it sure hints at chaos ready to erupt in a small town, and with the looks of it, it will be impossible to contain the terror, and blood is about to splash.

Episode one feels rather grounded – building up the tension and anticipation for what’s coming next. It goes without saying that the grounded pace coupled with the dim lighting plays a major part in the storytelling, drawing the audience into the story world.

The series is said to premiere this weekend on Showmax, rolling out limited episodes weekly, so turn your lights off, sink into your couch and prepare to have the fright of your life.
